01
Overview
Karnote is an iPhone app for organizing vehicle expenses, maintenance and road trips. Your app data is stored on your device. Karnote does not operate a server that receives or stores your vehicle records, and we do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
02
Data you choose to provide
Karnote stores information you enter or attach, which may include:
- Vehicle details such as make, model, year, mileage, fuel type and nickname
- Expense records such as amount, category, date and notes
- Maintenance records such as service type, date, mileage and notes
- Road trip details such as route, stops, dates and associated expenses
- Photos attached to an expense or vehicle profile
This information is stored locally on your device and is not transmitted to Karnote’s servers.
03
Location and Maps
When you choose to use your current location in the Trip Cost Calculator or Road Trips feature, Karnote may ask for location permission. Your location is used to set a starting point and support route planning. Karnote does not access your location in the background, use it for advertising or maintain a location-tracking profile.
Map, place-search and routing functionality is provided through Apple Maps and is governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. A route you decide to save may remain on your device as part of that road trip record.
04
iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud Sync, app data may be stored and synchronized using Apple’s iCloud infrastructure. Apple encrypts iCloud data in transit and at rest. Karnote does not operate a separate server or have access to your iCloud account.
You can control iCloud access in your device settings. Deleting data from one synchronized device may also delete it from your other devices.
05
Photos, camera and notifications
If you choose to add a vehicle photo or attach a receipt, Karnote requests access only so you can select or capture that image. Attached images are stored with your local app data.
Karnote may also request permission to send maintenance reminders. These are local notifications created on your device from the dates and mileage information you provide.
06
What we do not collect
- No third-party advertising or analytics SDKs
- No advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking
- No sale or sharing of personal data for advertising
- No account, name or email address required to use the app
- No payment card information collected by Karnote
07
In-app purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. Karnote does not receive or store your payment card details. Purchase, billing, refund and transaction data held by Apple is handled under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
08
Data security and retention
Your local Karnote data is protected by the security features of your Apple device, including its passcode and biometric controls where enabled. Data remains on your device until you delete individual records, erase app data or remove the app. iCloud copies may remain according to your iCloud settings and Apple’s retention practices.
